About the Role

As a Truck Driver at Prairie Freight Solutions Inc., you will operate Class 1 long-haul or Class 3 regional commercial vehicles to transport freight across Manitoba and neighbouring provinces. You will work alongside a supportive dispatch team to plan optimal routes, manage delivery windows, and ensure that all cargo arrives in perfect condition. The role demands a calm, professional attitude, a strong safety mindset, and the ability to work independently for extended periods. You will be responsible for daily vehicle inspections, accurate logbook maintenance, and compliance with Transport Canada regulations at all times.

Your Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy commercial vehicles (Class 1 or Class 3) safely on urban, rural, and highway routes across Manitoba and beyond.
  • Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any defects or safety concerns to the fleet supervisor immediately.
  • Securely load, strap, and unload cargo in accordance with weight distribution guidelines and cargo-specific safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate electronic logging device (ELD) records including hours of service, fuel consumption, mileage, and delivery confirmations.
  • Communicate proactively with dispatchers, warehouse teams, and customers regarding delivery ETAs, delays, or route changes.
  • Adhere to all provincial and federal traffic laws, company driving policies, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations where applicable.
  • Perform basic roadside vehicle maintenance such as checking tire pressure, engine oil, coolant levels, and trailer lighting systems.
  •  Keep the assigned truck interior and exterior clean, organized, and presentable at all times.

What You Bring

  • Valid Manitoba Class 1 (Air Brake Endorsement preferred) or Class 3 commercial driver’s licence with a clean abstract.
  • Minimum one year of documented professional truck driving experience in Canada or internationally.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian traffic laws, Highway Traffic Act requirements, and logbook regulations.
  • Physical capability to handle loading and unloading tasks and to remain seated for extended driving periods.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet tight delivery schedules without compromising safety.
  • Good communication skills in English (spoken and written) to interact with dispatchers, clients, and border officials.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and occasional statutory holidays as required by operational demand.
  • TDG certification is an asset; training can be provided to the right candidate.
